The Open Water Diver course is the first diving training. You will learn about diving equipment, safety and basic skills such as breathing underwater and how to use your equipment. This is done in a swimming pool and in open water, under the supervision of an instructor. After completion you can dive under supervision up to 18 meters (depending on age). It opens the door to the underwater world and allows you to dive safely and with knowledge. Below you will find a detailed overview of what you can expect during each lesson:
Theory and Swimming Pool Lesson 1
During the first lesson we dive into the theory of diving and start with the practical training in the pool. You will learn about the basics of diving and have the opportunity to become familiar with your diving equipment under the guidance of our experienced instructors.
It is important to mention that all our open water dives take place at Fletiomare, only about 10 minutes away from our diving school. The address is Burgemeester Middelweerdplaats 1, 3454 HH Utrecht. This beautiful diving area provides a perfect environment to practice your skills and explore the underwater world.
Theory and Swimming Pool Lesson 2
In the second lesson we delve further into the theory and continue with the training in the pool.
Theory and Swimming Pool Lessons 3 and 4
During the third and fourth lessons we continue to discuss theory and practice more complex skills in the pool. You'll receive comprehensive feedback and guidance from your instructor to ensure you master all skills before heading out to open water.
Open water dive 1 and 2
Now that you've built a solid foundation in the pool, it's time to apply your skills in the real outdoor water! Under the guidance of your instructor, you will make two dives where you will explore the underwater world and experience the excitement of diving in nature.
Theory and Swimming Pool Lesson 5
After your first open water experience, you will return to the classroom and pool for a final session. We'll discuss the latest theoretical topics and refine any skills you want to improve before heading out for your final open water dives.
Open water dive 3 and 4
In the final phase of the course you will complete two more open water dives, focusing on applying everything you have learned. After completing these dives, you will be ready to earn your PADI Open Water Diver certificate and explore the underwater world with confidence!
